nvironmental apathy is seen as one of our biggest environmental problems. Public awareness and understanding of the environment in general, and areas of conservation concern in particular, are vital in ensuring sustainable development and a healthy environment.

NEWS does not intend to be controversial or to slow down or hamper development. NEWS seeks positive dialogue and constructive co-operation with all environmental stakeholders and disseminates environmental information in order to facilitate informed and positive decision-making at all levels.

NEWS Programmes & Projects
NEWS
concentrates on improving environmental understanding and eliminating environmental apathy through a variety of activities. These include youth, leadership and research programmes and projects focussing on education and applied conservation.

NEWS Publications

ur biannual environmental magazine, Roan News, features a wide variety of illustrated articles on current affairs, research and conservation projects and general natural history, providing an excellent overview of pertinent environmental issues.

Regular NEWS-Letters keep our members up to date with the work of the Society and current issues of interest.

NEWS Talks
M
onthly talks by local and international scientists and environmentalists inform our members and the general public about our environment and allow public debate on important issues.
